With art, I hope to share insights into the strange and beautiful details from nature that might otherwise be readily overlooked, particularly in a busy distracted world.
Enlarging what is tiny and simplifying or exaggerating patterns, details, colours and textures using paints, crayons and other materials. My intention is to guide people to more readily experience what I have observed for themselves; igniting curiosity and a sense of wonder, making people feel good and hopefully even increasing their value and appreciation for the natural environment.
My paintings are also very symbolic and intuitive. The 'why' behind my paintings and each series is driven by my personal experiences and challenges and how I choose to see the world.
'BUTTERFLY WING-SCALES' LIMITED EDITION PRINTS
These paintings are giant illustrations of the wing surface of a butterfly (or moth) wing, as seen under the microscope. The wings of these insects are carpeted in millions of tiny vibrant scales in an incredible variety of colours. Have you ever touched a butterfly or moth and noticed a fine dust on your fingertips? This is these tiny wing-scales sticking to your skin!

'CROCHET WEB MANDALA' LIMITED EDITION PRINTS
about the series
These circular watercolour paintings are based on crochet textiles, a spiders web, the spiral inside a shell, the mandala (sacred circular symbols found in many cultures) and so many beautiful organic-type spiral shapes observed in nature. Colour healing and the value of focus and/or meditation in life and inspiration also play an important role in the concept of these works.

Each piece is carefully checked, hand-signed, titled and numbered by Chelsea Hopkins-Allan in pencil on the front lower edge of the print.
**CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY**
A Certificate of Authenticity will be provided with the artwork.
**MATERIALS**
Archival pigment inks on 100% cotton archival art paper (museum grade). The paper I have chosen is a 310gsm Hahnemuhle German Etching paper. It has a lovely texture and thickness to it like the watercolour paper I use for the originals.
Giclee prints are of an exceptional quality and colour and with appropriate framing/care should remain lightfast (not fade or have their colour affected) for at least a hundred years!!! (This is fine art printing and involves different materials to 'normal' printing, hence the price difference but worth the investment!)
